Here you have a really clean example of a 1920’s Leedy Black Elite snare drum. The shell sounds really remarkable, though we’ve got to get a really narrow 12 or 14 strand snare assembly on it. The snare beds are really narrow and deep; the depth worked well with calf heads that would stretch to the contour, and the width worked well with the 12 strand silk and wire snares that came with the drum.
This is a rare bird. It’s priced at $1500.
